Brenda's Story
Hi there, My name is Brenda.
And for as long as I can remember, I have been asking one simple question:
What would become possible if the people who cared about the same children, families, and communities could truly find one another and move together?
That question became ‘Beyond Awareness’, a love-founded company that helps communities, organizations, and mission driven leaders transform awareness into coordinated action. Through relationship, storytelling, resource alignment, and creative collaboration, we help the village move together -because no child, family, or community should suffer simply because the people who care are disconnected from one another.
Long before Beyond Awareness had a name, I simply loved bringing people together. Music, Art, Dance, Theatre, laughter, beach bonfires, inside jokes, and simply being present with people I loved taught me something I would only understand years later. People flourish when they feel welcomed, appreciated, and invited to simply, peacefully, co-exist.
Looking back, I thought I was searching for that community, while building a business to support them. But really, I was building the kind of community I had always hoped existed, and listening for the right business model, to take shape around us...
But building that vision required more than I ever imagined.
During the journey, my children and I lost our home, and later the storage unit that held nearly everything we owned. There were nights I slept in my car while continuing the work I believed God had called me to do. Through every setback, my children became my greatest source of strength. They prayed over me, celebrated every small victory with me, and reminded me that hope is sustained by Love, long before it is sustained by certainty.
That journey, truly changed me.
I experienced rejection, misunderstanding, and seasons when my vulnerability was mistaken for naivety. Yet through every challenge, God remained present. Through my mentors, friends, teachers, coaches, and community leaders, who continually reminded me that I was worth believing in. They showed me what becomes possible when people choose to believe in one another, long enough to build something better -together.
Beyond Awareness has never been the work of just me. It has always been built through relationships, trust, encouragement, and ordinary people answering a shared call that is bigger than themselves.
Today, my children and I are grateful to have found stability again in a house of our own. And so, having to start from scratch materially; I’m deeply honored to have been selected by A Celebration of Worth, an organization that recognizes local community leaders who quietly dedicate their lives to serving others.
This campaign is about far more than restoring a house.
While I was working to create spaces that felt like Home for others, my community was quietly becoming that Home for me and my children. They welcomed us into their hearts, stood beside us through some of our hardest seasons, and reminded us that we never had to carry this journey alone.
Your support is not simply helping restore the materials we lost. It is helping restore a place where my family can continue dreaming, creating, serving, and opening our doors to others.
More than anything, it is a reminder that when a community chooses to love one another well, that love always finds it’s way Home.
